Sicko

I know a lot of people have strong feelings against Michael Moore, but I think his new film looks really interesting and funny. It's called "Sicko" and it's about the American healthcare system. You've also got to admit, no matter what your opinion of Bush is, that he says an awful lot of things that can so easily be made fun of. Here's a clip of the movie:

A few new picts

Here are a few more pictures of the trip...

Long Walks on the Beach

G and I just got back from a 10 day trip to Oregon to see my family. We had a great time primarily due to G's adoration of Grandma and Grandpa's pets. We went to the beach for part of the time, and G got to see the ocean. Here's a video of him chasing his Auntie, my sister (or "At" as he likes to call her).

He was a little scared of the water--as he should have been considering it was freezing! All in all, we had a great time!

You know you're not looking like a good parent when...

...the fine, upper-crust clientele at Walmart ask you if you are ever going to wipe your child's nose. Wow. That's a self esteem check right there.

7/7/07

So, I was just reminded of the fact that on the Office, the Scranton branch had a 5/5/05 party. I started thinking about it and the only day of the year that we could have a similar party is coming up! So, I'm thinking I'm going to have myself a little 7/7/07 party. Sadly, most of my parties consist of G and me barbecuing by ourselves. Maybe for this party we'll go hog wild and include the cat. Anyway, so if you are someone who is going to be in town for 7/7/07 we should plan something. I mean, a day like that only comes once... a year.

Also, we are getting a season pass to the pool for the summer. I took G earlier this week and he liked it, but he wouldn't take off his shirt or shoes. Every other little kid in the pool was content to wear just their swimsuit but apparently G has the same approximate modesty level as his uncle on a mission does (We will call him Uncle E). Just to illustrate--when Uncle E went into the MTC one of his biggest concerns was the fact that he would have to shower with all of the other missionaries around a central bank of showerheads. His first two letters home described how the lord answers prayers because when he got in to his dorm, the showers were individual stalls so he wouldn't have to shower around all the other guys. I'm not really sure where Uncle E came from, since his family is not super prude about modesty. Likewise, I'm not sure where G is coming from in not wanting to take his shirt off for swimming. The longer I'm a parent, the more I realize that for better or worse, these little people just have personalities of their own.

Random Picts part II

Nothing really new to say, I just thought some of these pictures were cute.
