Pictures of plants
Once, when I was little, I found a bunch of pictures my grandma had taken of...plants. I thought it was just about the weirdest thing I had ever seen. Who wants to see a picture of a tree or a bush? When I asked my mom about it, she told me that Grandma and Grandpa worked really hard on their garden and yard and were proud of them so they took pictures to remember. I still thought it was beyond bizarre, but I figured they were super old and there is no accounting for the things old people do.
A few ears of corn (we didn't really know if we could pick them so we just tried a few).

Apparently I have become super old because I now take pictures of inanimate objects we have worked hard on as well (see previous post of baby items). Now on to plants! Hubby and I enjoyed pretending we were newlyweds last night by staying up late picking things out of our garden and eating them alone in the kitchen. It was super fun--but a little quiet! We didn't pick a lot, but here are a few of our spoils.
A few ears of corn (we didn't really know if we could pick them so we just tried a few).
We did a back to back taste test with supermarket corn and easily won.
We couldn't help adding smiley faces to our carrots. They just resembled our family a little too much.
Can't wait for all of the tomatoes. BLT's here we come!
Yikes

Vacation anyone?
I don't know about you, but this outfit just makes me want to go on vacation.
In other news, G split his chin the other day tripping and falling in the hall. This bruise is actually looking better. He might end up with a wicked scar on his chin--but chicks dig scars, right? (I hope!)

Favorite Song Lyrics
Sometimes as we're making dinner and listening to various songs on my ipod, I catch myself listening to different lyrics and thinking, "what a great line!" I thought I would document some of my more favorite song lines (that I could come up with off the top of my head).
"Don't confront me with my failures, I had not forgotten them"
Jackson Browne THESE DAYS
"Down comes the reign of the telephone czar It's okay to call. I will answer for myself"
Ben folds LANDED
I love this whole song, but here are some of my favorites:
Jackson Browne THESE DAYS
"She liked to push me, and talk me back down, 'till i believed I was the crazy one, and in a way
I guess I was.""Down comes the reign of the telephone czar It's okay to call. I will answer for myself"
Ben folds LANDED
I love this whole song, but here are some of my favorites:
"Everybody knows it hurts to grow up. And everybody does. It's so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what, the years go on and we're still fighting it, we're still fighting it."
Let me tell you what, the years go on and we're still fighting it, we're still fighting it."
"And I can tell you 'bout today, and how I picked you up and everything changed. It was pain
Sunny days and rain, I knew you'd feel the same things."
"You'll try and try and one day you'll fly...Away from me"
Sunny days and rain, I knew you'd feel the same things."
"You'll try and try and one day you'll fly...Away from me"
"You're so much like me, I'm sorry."
Ben Folds STILL FIGHTING IT
Ben Folds STILL FIGHTING IT
"I didn't come this far for you to make this hard for me. And now you want to ask me 'how?" It's like--'how does your heart beat, and why do you breathe?'"
"With all the things that you could be, you never could learn how to be me."
Lisa Loeb HOW
"It's all right now, I learned my lesson well. You see, you can't please everyone so ya got to please yourself."
Ricky Nelson GARDEN PARTY
"In every heart there is a room, a sanctuary safe and strong. To heal the wounds from lovers past until a new one comes along...So I will share this room with you and you can have this heart to break."
Billy Joel AND SO IT GOES
"Next door, there's an old man who lived to his 90's and one day passed away in his sleep. Then his wife, she stayed for a couple of days and passed away. I'm sorry I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong."
Ben Folds THE LUCKIEST
"My stupid mouth has got me in trouble...wanna be liked, just wanna be funny. Looks like the joke's on me."
John Mayer MY STUPID MOUTH
"People spend so much time every single day, running around all over town giving their forever away."
Ben Harper FOREVER
"I can't seem to find the quiet inside my mind."
John Mayer QUIET
"I knew a girl, her name was truth, she was a horrible liar."
Ben Harper DIAMONDS ON THE INSIDE
"Other's lie, lie, lie, they adore you. I'll be the one to tell, careful or you'll hurt yourself."
Guster CAREFUL
"I'm the center of attention in the walls inside my head. And no one will ever know if I just keep my mouth shut tight."
Guster CENTER OF ATTENTION
"Sometimes I get the feeling that I won't be on this planet for very long. I really like it here, I'm quite attached to it, I hope I'm wrong. All I really wanna say is, you're the reason I wanna stay. I loved you before I met you and I met you just in time 'cause there was nothing left."
Ben Folds DON'T CHANGE YOUR PLANS
"The old folks say that ya gotta end your date by ten. If you're out on a date and you bring her home late, it's a sin. There just ain't no excuse and you know you're gonna lose, you never win."
Loggins and Messina YOUR MOMMA DON'T DANCE AND YOUR DADDY DON'T ROCK AND ROLL
"I'm surprised that you've never been told before, that you're lovely, and you're perfect, and that somebody wants you."
Semisonic FNT
I love this whole song, but mainly for this true, true line:
"Against the wind, we were runnin' against the wind."
Bob Seger AGAINST THE WIND
For best use of the word "moot" in a rock ballad:
"I wanna tell her that I love her, but the point is probably moot."
Rick Springfield JESSE'S GIRL
Finally, in the awesomely humorous category:
Basically all of this song, but especially:
"So back up off of me, you're weirding me out."

So much fun it hurts
We went camping this weekend with Hubby's family and had tons of fun. It was really nice to get to go, especially since they are leaving today for a couple of long trips and really only did the camping trip to placate us. Thanks again!!

Much to my chagrin, like any red-blooded American boy G was obsessed with the fire. He kept throwing wood on it to make it bigger but then when he was tired he piped up, "ok, someone turn the fire off!"
Uncle D, E, and Grandpa J hangin' out with G around the fire
Dad and E. This poor second child didn't have any shoes or a bed. He is so neglected sometimes, I really did feel bad about the whole thing.
When my mom was here, we found the most adorable hat for E. It looks like a little Australian hat, but the little stink won't wear it. This is what he did every time I tried to take a picture.
Happy, eating uncle D's water bottle.
I tried to take a picture of what everything looked like on the way home. It was a little overcast and so green and pretty. The picture doesn't do it justice at all.
Finally, by the time we got in the car, both kids were exhausted, grumpy and dirty. You only have to look at this picture to know that camping was a success. G didn't make it 10 minutes in the car before falling asleep. (I don't think you can tell how truly filthy this child was. His whole body was brown.)
We went home, took showers and were all asleep by 8:30. Man are we getting old.
