Just a couple of cute pictures from our stir crazy day today. There are so many days that we don't even leave the house--it's amazing how sane we still are. (It also explains the incredibly low mileage on our car--which we are selling by the way if you are interested!)

E decided to put his own shirt on while I was cooking in the kitchen. Didn't he do an excellent job? He wore it like this for about a half hour.
Finally, if you are looking for a good homemade blueberry muffin recipe I have one for you. I took another muffin recipe and changed it to what I wanted. I was amazed at how well they turned out. Let's just say that it made 12, there are now only 5 left, and I ate 6 of the 7 that have been eaten. Whoops!

Blueberry muffins

1 ¾ C. flour

¼ c. cornstarch

3/4 cup sugar

3 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 egg

1 cup milk

1 to 1 ½ tsp almond ext.

1/2 cup butter

1 to 1 ½ cup frozen blueberries

Mix dry ingredients and set aside. Beat eggs, milk, butter and extract. Add dry ingredients and stir gently to combine. Fold in blueberries. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Makes 12 large muffins.

Surprise--maybe!

So in case you didn't know yet and are wondering why I am slowly getting fatter, we are having another baby! We just had our ultrasound this week and guess what...

are you noticing a theme??

IT'S A GIRL!!!

The conversation with the ultrasound lady went a little something like this:

Me: "Everyone wants it to be a girl and is guessing girl except for me. I'm going with boy because I'm contrary like that. Plus that's what we do--boys."
Lady: "So you want to know right?"
Me: "Oh yeah!"
Lady: "It's a girl."
Me: mouth gaping "Whaaaa...are you sure? Could you just check again?"
She proceeded to show us a bunch of different views and point out the apparent LACK of something in between the legs.
G: "I TOLD YOU MOM! I TOLD YOU IT WAS A GIRL."
I sort of drifted around in a fog for the rest of the day repeating, "A girl? What are we going to do with a girl? Are you sure she said a girl?"

Then in G's prayer at dinner he said:

"Thank you for Tiny (the baby) that she is healthy and a girl and I was RIGHT and mom was WRONG."

Hahaha. I have already started planning all of the cute things to make and bought some clothes. A girl!!! Can you even believe it?!!

Direct quote of the day

Hubs: "I love my green sweatshirt because it makes me feel like a ranger's apprentice."

Before I relate this story, please notice the location of the garbage in relation to the toilet. Thank you.

Today is garbage day. As hubby was emptying the bathroom garbage, he noticed something was amiss.
H: "Why is this garbage all wet? (Joking) Did someone pee in it?"
Me: "I don't know, maybe the kids were playing and water got in it..."
G: (Piping up from his bedroom) "I had to go to the bathroom really bad and I couldn't make it to the toilet so I peed in the garbage can."

Aren't they all so handsome?
I think I should document some of the pleasant things E has done today so that someday when he grows up and has a baby like himself I can just laugh...I sure love this BUSY little stinker.

  • Try to throw toys at his brother while I wasn't looking.
  • Yell at his brother at G's soccer game and try to coach him from his stroller sitting on the sidelines. Later he tried to get in and play.
  • Run away as fast as he could laughing at the library and knocking down books. He threw a monster fit when I stopped him but was placated when I checked out a sketchy looking paperback vampire hunting novel that he pulled off the shelf.
  • Walk in the door from outside, straight to my pots and start banging lids together.
  • Pull off his socks after his nap, then deliberately throw them both at his brother.
  • Chase his big brother with a sword, making fighting motions.
  • Run around eating a graham cracker that I have no idea where it came from. Sadly, it could have been from anywhere.
  • Throw every single piece of food I gave him on the floor.
  • Open every cupboard and drawer and pull out everything he can find.
  • Scream and cry until I put him on the couch, then try to leap over the back and jump up and down on the cushions almost falling off. (I actually caught him once as he dove off the edge into the Christmas tree. I also watched him fall straight onto his head another time when I was too far away to catch him.)

Heaven help me I love this kid but I'm pretty sure I know where every gray hair comes from. When he grows up and complains about having a crazy little boy I am going to laugh and laugh, then probably babysit so that he and his wife don't lose their minds.
