Eating Crow and Celebrating

You know how when you are single and you've been in relationships you think you know everything, and then you get married and think, "Holy cow, I had no idea how hard being married is!" Then you judge everyone and their parenting until you have a kid and you think, "Holy cow, I had no idea how hard being a parent is!" Well we are currently at the stage where we thought we were pretty good at the parent thing and are now thinking, "Holy cow, I had no idea how much harder it is to have more than one!!" This is closely followed by the thought, "HOW DID OUR PARENTS DO THIS?! Oh wait, maybe that's why they are a little crazy." (Haha, we love you guys! Thanks for not stopping at one or we wouldn't be here.)

So anyway, we apologize for falling off the face of the planet. Team B is undergoing a huge, fun, snuggly, grumpy, confusing, tiring, and loving transition right now. We are grateful for it, but we bow to all of you parents who have been here and done it. Clearly we have (and had) no idea what to expect as our family expands. For anyone interested, here are a few pictures from Halloween, G's birthday and other random times...

I just thought this was a cute picture (don't you love his little jeans?!)
Here is G with our Jack-o-lanterns (the smaller one was E's but he was sleeping).
And now we see why G loves Halloween!
The boys in their costumes--Super Why, Super Dad, and a baby pumpkin.
G and I made a Jack-o-lantern pizza together (it looked much better before it was cooked).
Isn't G ridiculously big?
These pictures are from G's birthday. Opening his presents...
His helicopter cake.
And my favorite, our first full family picture so far.

More picts

Some of these pictures are kind of old. Amazing how a new baby will get you to finally download stuff off your camera! Sorry, some of these are out of order but I'm tired of messing with it.

HE'S HERE!

He's finally here! After all these long months our sweet second little boy is here and home! Please excuse any of my schmaltzy stuff, I'm feeling like a gushy, weepy mom right now but I am so happy to be here with my wonderful little family.

Everything went great, he was 8lbs. 4oz. and 20 inches long and has tons of hair. G likes to "pet" him and check on him and already thinks we should "buy" some more boys. We'll see what he thinks when little E has been home for longer than 4 hours. I won't be posting his name on the blog--just like with G--so hopefully we have other means of communicating that will help lessen the suspense.

I just feel so blessed and happy and tired and paranoid and protective right now--just one big bundle of a mom. It's great! So anyway, I realized after I looked through these that they aren't really great (he is much cuter than these give him credit for) but enjoy some preliminary pictures!

Some quoteable quotes

Laying in bed talking after nap time:
G: Mom, did Dad already marry you?
M: Yeah he did.
G: Oh. Did you have that freckle on your face when he married you.
M: Yeah, I did.
G: Hmm
(Should that have made me self conscious?)

While talking to dad:
B: Mom's awesome, huh?
G: No, Mom's not awesome. Only boys are awesome. She can be pretty, but girls aren't awesome.

M: I have to sit down, my back hurts.
G: Dad's back doesn't hurt.
M: Well that's because Dad's a superhero.
G: Yeah, dad is a superhero like Super Why. His back never hurts.

G: Mom get out of the WAY!
M: What? Sorry, what?
G: I can't see the clock.
(Like he knows what time it is??)

While watching conference:
G: Look it's President Hinkley
M: No, sorry that is another man.
(Next speaker)
G: Is that President Hinkley?
M: No, sorry...
(After about 3 or 4 times)
M: I'm sorry honey, President Hinkley died.
G: He did? I'm so sorry, Mom. Don't worry I will keep him safe so he won't die.

The other night after giving him hugs and kisses for bedtime:
G: Don't worry Mom, I will protect you. I will make it so you won't have bad dreams.

After decorating for Halloween:
M: When we bring the baby home he can see the decorations.
G: He will laugh and clap!!!

Sitting at dinner the other day:
G: Mom, your husband ate so much cornbread! WHAT?!?!

It should also be noted that anytime I don't do what he wants he tells me that I am being disobedient. I'm not sure exactly how to address this as of yet. Any ideas of how to explain to a 3 year old why children have to obey their parents but we don't have to obey them?
