Scary isn't it?
I was playing with the camera and I took this picture of G (the first one, in case you were confused). All I have to say is, wow.

Life is Good
A couple of random thoughts...
I was a big fan of John Mayer's first album but haven't liked his newer stuff as much. It just seems too commercial, whereas his first album was a little more raw. I have recently discovered this song from his latest album, though; and I really like the lyrics.
The Heart of Life
I hate to see you cry
Laying there in that position
There's things you need to hear
So turn off your tears and listen
Pain throws you heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way, it should
But I know the heart of life is good
You know it's nothing new
Bad news never had good timing
But then the circle of your friends
Will defend the silver lining
Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way, it should
But I know the heart of life is good
Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
Fear is a friend who's misunderstood
But I know the heart of life is good
I know it's good
Just to prove how good life is, here is a video of my little boo

Elder Elder Elder
For everyone who doesn't know, BAB's second youngest brother, went into the MTC on Wednesday (he was called to the Kobe, Japan mission). He is such a neat person, and it says a lot that the whole family was able to get work off to say goodbye to him and see him off. It was so cute, G somehow seemed to understand that he was leaving. When he went to put his bags away he kept yelling, "EWIC!! EWIC!!" and was visibly distraught. When we all said goodbye, he gave BAB's brother a big hug and patted him on the back. I cried the whole time because I couldn't help but think--this will be me someday! It was a really fun, neat experience. We will miss him so much, but he will do great as a missionary.

Shrek 3

Today we thought we would do something really cool and fun for G and take him to Shrek 3. We were really excited, since we have seen the last two about a billion times. Ok, so really we've just seen the beginnings and ends since we sleep through the whole thing while G watches spellbound. Even so...
Anyway, so we got to the theater, and after about a million previews the movie finally began. I hate to disappoint everyone but it was a little bit of a letdown. I was not a big Shrek fan--I only thought there was about one really funny part in the whole movie. But I have to say I was expecting more after the excellence that was Shrek 2. I mean, hysterical new characters, parodies of pop culture e.g. "tonight on Knights..." as well as cross dressing puppets e.g. "it's a thong!" Genius. Unfortunately for Shrek 3, this might have been too tough of an act to follow. The movie was fine, it just seemed like it was trying too hard and falling a little flat. It also seemed to suffer from the Land Before Time sequel phenomenon, i.e. for some reason it turned into a little bit of a musical. Alright, it wasn't quite that bad, but there was an odd amount of singing.
All in all, though, G had a great time. He ended up with a tummy full of Cheetos, fruit snacks, cookies, and 3/4 of a king sized Snickers. He then came home, crashed for 3 hours and got to stay up 2 hours past his bed time dancing and playing in the mud outside with his dad. I mean really, what more could a toddler ask for?

Chef G
This video doesn't really convey how amazing this moment really was, but yesterday G and I made a cake together. After I put some water in and turned around to measure the oil, I heard G turn the mixer on. Of course, I imagined cake mix flying everywhere and little fingers stuck in the beaters so I started saying, "no! no! no! no!" As I turned around, there he was, adeptly using the mixer to actually mix the cake. He was turning the bowl and everything! So, I just added all the other ingredients and let him keep mixing. It was actually quite handy since I could go get all the ingredients and he just stood there mixing away. I can't believe what a big kid he is turning into!

Proud as punch
So here is a video of G rocking out to The Office theme song. I swear I didn't teach this to him, he just has exceptional taste.

The travails of journal writing
I'm experiencing the feeling that occurs in regard to all journal writing at some point be it paper or blog. Basically I have nothing to talk about that would be interesting to anyone. So, here are a few more pictures of G who is really into brushing hair right now. He climbs up my shelves in the bathroom (which, mind you, are the most expensive shelves/cabinets we have in the entire house) and gets my brushes. He then proceeds to "do his hair" complete with trying to use leave in conditioner and hairspray. Basically, G has become our little monkey--mimicking everything that we do.
